Mandate
The Electrical Engineering Group (EN-EL) is responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution network, from 400 kV to 400/230 V. It plans and delivers network extensions and upgrades to support new projects, from engineering studies and equipment procurement to installation, integration into the electrical network control system and commissioning.
EN-EL also manages CERN’s optical fibre network and provides signal, DC and optical fibre cabling services across the CERN site, including the associated installation infrastructure.
Through its engineering expertise, control systems and digital solutions, the Group ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of CERN’s critical infrastructure..
